Rising Popularity

Musically, Milian returned in late 2004 with a new image (while attempting to create more adult music, Milian tried to maximize her sex appeal). Releasing the album It’s About Time, Milian looked to gain a more serious musical following. While the album sold below expectations, its songs became popular and it was considered for many awards, leading many to label it as a success. In fact, her lead single “Dip It Low” cracked the top five on many music charts. In 2006, Milian released the album So Amazin’, but it achieved no success. Her record label tried to compensate for the failure by releasing a compilation CD of Milian in time for the Christmas rush. While snags have presented themselves in her musical career, things have been working out well in the acting department. In 2005, she earned roles in the films Man of the House (opposite many up-and-coming Hollywood starlets, as well as the veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones) and Be Cool (as part of an ensemble cast that got together for the sequel to Get Shorty). She followed these with the 2006 film Pulse. In 2007, she joined the cast of the CW hit series Smallville.
